Microneedling Aftercare
Your face may appear red and flushed for several hours after treatment and feel tight. This is normal and will settle.
- Do not touch your face for four hours.
- Avoid applying make up and vigorous exercise for 12 hours.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours after treatment to reduce bruising risk.
- Immediately after treatment there may be redness and a tight sensation in the treated area. These reactions are temporary and generally subside over the following few hours.
- If you have had Purosomes (bovine exosomes) used during your session, leave them on the skin for a minimum of 12 hours or overnight. Wash your skin with tepid water only on the evening of your treatment.
- Use gentle moisturising cream to soothe the skin (hyaluronic acid). Avoid active ingredients (such as retinol or vitamin C) for several days and re-introduce slowly after putting a test dot on your skin. If the skin feels rough or flaky apply further basic moisturiser, never pick or pull the skin.
- Until the initial redness has resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat or extreme cold. LED red light is safe to use and will expedite recovery.
- Do not massage or manipulate the treated area.
- Protect your skin with SPF50.
Hints for avoiding bruising and swelling with injectables
- Avoid blood thinners for 4 to 7 days before treatment (this includes fish oils/omega-3 and 6, aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, St John’s wart, alcohol).
- Avoid NSAID painkillers (e.g. ibuprofen) and alcohol consumption for 24 hours after treatment.
- Arnica cream/gel (provided) can be applied regularly to the treated area before and after treatment. Arnica tablets can also be taken during this time concurrently.
- Antihistamine (e.g. Piriton) can reduce swelling. Take as required after treatment.
- Sleep with your head elevated to minimise overnight swelling on the night of treatment.
- Eating pineapple or taking Bromelain supplements can reduce inflammation and speed up healing time.
